PRWSWO has granted Membership status of Home Net South Asia (HANSA) a regional network of home based workers that was formed out of need, as one of the outcomes of Kathmandu Declaration. The network is formed to bring solidarity among the organizations of home based workers in the region, to organize home based workers at Regional level, to exchange and share the success and failure stories as learning and to bring pressure on government to demand legislation for home based workers through its advocacy efforts. PRWSWO inducted as NGO of Home based Workers from South Region of Pakistan in the big united family of HANSA.

Pakistan Rural Workers Social Welfare Organization (PRWSWO) got membership status of the International Detention Coalition (IDC), Australia that is a unique global network, of over 300 civil society organizations and individuals in more than 70 countries that advocate for research and provide direct services to refugees, asylum-seekers and migrants affected by immigration detention. Ms. Sabiha Nazeer, Member Parliament , National Assembly of Pakistan and Member of Standing Committee of the Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resources was invited by Migrant’s Forum Asia (MFA) to attend a meeting of the Advisory Committee and a Fact-Finding’ mission in Malaysia on 14-16 April 2014 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The Fact Finding mission seeks to appraise the delegation on the situation of migrant workers in Malaysia. During this time, she will meet with key relevant stakeholders working on the issues of migrant workers in the country. This will include meeting with government officials, foreign missions, and civil society.

2nd February,2014

PRWSWO in partnership with British Council Pakistan is conducting 4 days Active Citizenship Program training in the Colleges & various departments of Islamia University Bahawalpur and has planned to train around 300 youths as active citizens. The Active Citizens program is linked civil society, community leaders and networks of young people and organizations in Pakistan, the UK and other countries. The overarching aim is to deepen trust and understanding within and between communities. Young participants gain various skills including cross-cultural communication and Intercultural dialogue, and its effective role in community action. They are encouraged to play a bigger role in their communities by addressing social issues through volunteering and engaging with community influencers and local Civil Society Organizations. Young people acquire a wide range of skills in leadership, communication, advocacy, citizenship, volunteering, Social Action Project delivery, fundraising, social entrepreneurship, partnerships, and network building skills.

Mr. Sabir Farhat, Secretary General has proceeded to Stockholm, Sweden to attend the Peoples General Action on Migration Development and Human Rights (PGA) from 9-11 May 2014; the Civil Society parallel event to the 7th Global Forum on Migration & Development.

The Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD) emerged as an outcome of the United Nations General Assembly’s High Level Dialogue on Migration and Development in 2006. Policymakers and stakeholders from almost all countries all over the world participate in a large annual GFMD convening to discuss the relation between migration and development, share experiences and forge practical cooperation.

PRWSWO is the only NGO from Pakistan that has been accredited to attend PGA & GFMD in Stockholm, Sweden.
